Holotropic & Somatic Breathwork
Accelerated breath and evocative music for deep trauma release and self-exploration, safely held.
Holotropic Breathwork was created by psychiatrists Stanislav and Christina Grof in the 1970s as a non-drug path to the healing potentials of non-ordinary states; somatic breathing draws on decades of trauma research since.
Stress and old wounds living in the body — tension, shutdown and patterns that talking hasn't shifted.
About This Practice
Holotropic Breathwork — 'moving toward wholeness' — uses faster, deeper breathing and evocative music to open a non-ordinary state in which the psyche's own healing wisdom takes over. Somatic breathwork brings the same work closer to the body: slow, felt, trauma-sensitive release of what is stored in the nervous system.
In a guided session, the breather alternates deep accelerated breathing with periods of slowing down and feeling into the body, letting tension, emotion and memory complete their interrupted arcs. Facilitators provide steady, non-intrusive support and grounding; the breather's inner healer steers the pace.
