Functional Nutrition & Gut Health
Food as precision medicine — resolving gut issues and fatigue at their root.
Functional medicine was founded by Jeffrey Bland in the 1990s as systems-oriented, root-cause care; its nutrition branch has grown rapidly alongside the explosion of microbiome research.
Bloating, brain fog, fatigue and food fears — tired of guessing which foods are friends.
About This Practice
Functional nutrition starts from the finding that most modern chronic issues — fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, autoimmunity — trace back, in part, to the gut. Testing what is actually happening in your digestion and microbiome turns food from guesswork into targeted medicine.
Practitioners use functional testing (microbiome mapping, food sensitivity, nutrient status) to see the gut's true state, then build staged plans: removing triggers, repairing the gut lining, re-inoculating beneficial flora, and rebuilding nourishment — with meals that are realistic and good.
