Soul Retrieval
The core shamanic rite of return — bringing back the parts of self that were lost to shock and heartbreak.
A central practice of indigenous shamanic traditions across Siberia, the Americas and beyond, brought into contemporary healing by teachers such as Sandra Ingerman.
The after-shock of trauma and grief — feeling fragmented, absent from your own life, 'never the same since'.
About This Practice
In the shamanic view, when we suffer overwhelming fright, abuse or loss, parts of the soul can flee for safety — taking memory, capacity and life force with them. Soul retrieval is the ceremony of finding those parts in the spirit worlds and bringing them home.
The practitioner journeys on the client's behalf to locate the lost essence, negotiates its return, and gently restores it to the body, often returning with a gift of power and a story of what left and why. Aftercare focuses on welcoming the returned part into ordinary life.
